Dinner Meeting: Date: January 21, 2010-Thursday-

Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Miriam Brown at 6:36PM

INTRODUCTIONS:
Miriam introduced past presidents along with the year they served.

She gave attendees the option of whether or not to self-introduce
themselves. Most participated and some introduced others as a favor to
them. Some did it with humor. This was different and fun!
She announced dinner was being served at the “Italian Buffet” and
committee reports would commence at the same time.
EDUCATION: Teresa Shaver- She gave a brief introduction of the upcoming
educational speakers for upcoming dinner meetings.
MEMBERSHIP: Dino Champagne-Dino presented the rules for the Membership
Drawing for paid memberships and conference.
1. Members Only. 2. Must fill out slips provided to choose either
conference or membership; check the box you want and put in the box
provided. Drawings will take place at our installation dinner, 10 for
paid membership and 5 for conference reimbursement.
There is also the Business Card Drawing for Real Estate and Mortgage
Brokers and Agents. Drawing will take place at the September dinner
meeting.
Ten new members for 2010 were voted in at the January board meeting. She
stressed that we need more new members.
FUNDRAISING: Tania Stelter (unable to attend) presented by Miriam Brown
She announced that our special raffles for the City of Hope allowed us
to donate $2,000.00. “Everyone who participates makes a difference. “
The “Walk for Hope” had 96 walkers and raised $8,000.00 on the website
and with mailed donations it was approximately $10,000.00. Over the last
seven years EASGV has donated over $100,000.00 to the City of Hope!
We need (8) sponsors for the special raffle, she asked for a show of
hands of anyone who would like to be a sponsor and we had a few hands go
up. We are half way there.
Phil Atwan wanted to share some words: “People value different things
but in life Cancer doesn’t care, everyone has been touched in some way”
He announced (2) $100.00 prizes and the monies will go toward the
assault of cancer.
PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION: Terri Fabbri.
You can check CEA website for your credits. However, 501’s sent by
December 31st will be posted by the end of January. No scan since 2010
Memberships cards are not out yet. We should have them by next dinner
meeting. PD test will be on April 17 need applications by March 19th
deadline. Test will be held in San Gabriel Valley, you can download
application on the website. Contact her with any questions.
WEBSITE: Miriam Brown-Tries to upgrade every year. Has a new look wotj a
“Touch of Pink”. She has added a new actual calendar page; Google
interactive.
EBLAST: Jacqueline Cheou- Communicate more electronically. Encouraged
use of electronic web, email, Facebook. Make sure your contact
information with CEA is up to date.
BUDGET: Randy Caruso (unable to attend) by Miriam Brown –this year’s
budget is similar to last year’s. We are going to continue investing in
our members by continuing the 10 free memberships and 5 free conference
fees.
AWARDS: Juliana Tu-Handed out PET forms to those who attended other
seminars, escrow institute, conference anyone who did any kind of
presentation to others in our industry,
She also introduced “So, What’s the Scoop?” for our newsletter. She
handed out some forms, for anyone who has fun and/or good things to
share.
NEWSLETTER -Andy Clark, need new talent to contribute to newsletter.
AEA-Juliana Tu
Introduction of annual conference to be held in Seattle. June 10-12-all
fun and learning, need delegates to send in letter of willingness to
serve- board will vote on whom to send.
CITY OF HOPE-David Shean-Announced Randy Caruso will be taking over his
position. Month of February into March is City of Hope Blood
drive-donate blood or platelets. You have a choice of bandage colors.
Like neon colors. Try to promote to your brokers.
SPEAKER: Rose Pothier-Spoke on cases of embezzlement by hired persons
who had previous offenses and were not reported so they continued their
evil ways. . Lack of background checking by employers and DOC.
Also cases where escrow companies are being held accountable by lenders
and lawsuits being brought via the title companies –assignments, for
breach of contract. Watch out for lender instructions that hold you
responsible. READ! READ! READ!
